With 6 self contained 4 star 2, 3 and 4 bedroom cottages The River Retreat as an ideal location from which to tour the wineries, sample excellent cuisine and visit local wildlife attractions in the area. Some attractions are within walking distance but you don't even have to leave the retreat to be entertained. The retreat has its own walk trail along the banks of the Swan River and guided nature walks can be arranged. Visit the animals of our farmyard area, play bocche, use the swimming pool and recreation room, have a game of Supa golf. Or just sit back and relax under the shade of our majestic Red gum trees. At dusk join us for Didge After Dark or Taste of Didge an Australian Bush tucker BBQ Australian bush foods. Then walk to the riverbank joining the local people or our Swagman around the fire pit to share the stories of this land and their meaning. Local indigenous performers demonstrate to you the dance and culture of the Noongar people which is a living window back to the Dreamtime. Visit the Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery and gift shop, view a superb range of traditional and contemporary Aboriginal artworks, gifts and souvenirs. Maalinup make real returning boomerangs, authentic didgeridoos and clapping sticks in their workshops, why not try out a boomerang in our back paddock.
